As Hope Dies

As Hope Dies was Melodic Metalcore band from California that formed in 2000. They were very influenced by the Swedish death metal act At The Gates, except they didn't have guitar solos in their songs, instead they focused heavily on harmonized riffs. The band broke up in 2003, and reformed in August 2004 and broke up once again in 2005. These guys played some pretty awesome Metalcore stuff. Members were in or went on to be in Graf Orlock, Ghostlimb, Force of Change, Nuns With Guns, Antagonist, Blackheart Eulogy, Winds of Plague, Summers End, Scars of Tomorrow, Wage Slave & Sederra.

Nervous Breakdown

Nervous Breakdown were a hardcore band from Orlando that formed in 2002 and broke up in 2009. Nervous Breakdown have always had a place in my heart for many years, for the love I have of this band knows no end Their live shows were always something to remember, because they were some of the best around here. Full of singalongs, pileups, heavy moshing and of course some violence thrown in. The 1st two demos (which have Shaun on vocals) are awesome but I have to say that I love the LP (with William on vocals) more due to the harsher sound which has a bit of an "American Nightmare" sort of style mostly because of the vocal presentation being different between the two singers. I remember every show I went to very fondly, but one moment that shines the brightest to me was when the members had a cover band going on that played on Sundays at the Backbooth in Orlando for something they call "Sick Of It Sundays". One of the nights the guys were doing a set of Blink 182 songs and before ending the night Bubba announced that they were going to play the Nervous Breakdown song "I-4" and then called me up on the stage to sing the song along side Josh Call and I think one other dude, silly I know but I was really stoked on it. Some of the members were or are in Reversal of Man, Nightlights, Meantime, Casey Jones, Glory Days, Evergreen Terrace, Drop The Gloves, Make or Break, Tigerstyle & Backkkcorpse. Thanks alot to Josh Call for letting me upload A Lifetime Of Letdowns on here. On the Download for the LP i have included a live set which isn't the best but its something extra & also I found this old joke recording called "Charlie's Crazy Ex" that used to be on the Myspace along time ago. It's just a funny phone message. NB would be for fans of American Nightmare, Blacklisted, Madball, Terror, Agnostic Front, & Integrity.

NickxFury were a Straightedge hardcore band from Baltimore. They mostly played their local area but also did a few short tours elsewhere. They released their Demo CD-R in 2004 and the self titled 7" in 2005 (I also hear tale of a 2nd Demo that was super limited but i have found nothing on it). After breaking up 3 of the members went on to be in hardcore power house Trapped Under Ice. I fucking love this band, they rule hard. I have been wanting to do a post on them for along time now due to them being one of my favorite bands and now I can do it in style with the Demo finally getting to be released online right here thanks to the awesome dudes from music review Blog The HC/PUNK Demo Tapes Archives. I had sent them a line about getting the mp3s to it and was stoked they sent it, so if you have time check them out.

Party Monster

Party Monster - demo 2010
Party Monster are a thrashy hardcore band from Medina a suburb of Cleveland that formed in January of 2010. All the song names on this demo are qoutes from Nino Brown (wesley snipes) from the movie New Jack City. All the guys have just graduated from highschool this year, have been playing at The Tower 2012 in the Cleveland Area, and are planing on putting out their demo tape called Cuts From Tha Crypt on SBS records. All the members minus the singer are also in the band Toonsquad. This is for fans of that early outbreak sort of style hardcore

Think Straight

Think Straight Is a Hardcore band from Blackstone Valley Massachusetts. The band supports a "negative as fuck" image with their lyrics dealing with venting their anger and frustration on the image that seems to be taking over the scene, disrespectful people, fake friends & other topics in the same area. The down fall on this demo i'd say is the lack of bass but this is some pretty good stuff for a 3 song demo, check it out.

American Nightmare

A Band that means the world to me and many others i'm sure, American Nightmare (also known as: Give Up The Ghost, American Nothing, & AN during their time as a band) was a highly influential hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts that formed in 1998. The Band was formed by Tim Cossar and Wesley Eisold (who was then a roadie for Ten Yard Fight) when they met up with Azy Relph and Jesse Van Diest. They recorded a demo tape in 1999 on a jam box, followed by their debut release, a self-titled 7" on Bridge 9 Records under their original name American Nightmare in 2000. After extensive touring and line-up changes, the band recorded their second release 7" The Sun Isn't Getting Any Brighter. This was later combined with their self-titled 7" & some live tracks to form the Year One release. Their 1st full-length, Background Music, was recorded for Equal Vision Records in 2001 and was released to much acclaim. In 2003, the band was forced to change their name due to a legal battle with a similarly named band from Philadelphia (who suck ass). The band then changed their name briefly to the just the initials "A.N." then to American Nothing for a brief period. After the other American Nightmare threatened to press charges again, they changed their name to Give Up the Ghost (which was intended to be the name of their second album). After the name change they released an EP called Love American, A 2nd Demo (dubbed Love American Demos) & Their second full length, We're Down Til We're Underground which was released on Equal Vision Records. It displayed the band experimenting with their sound, with longer songs that didn't follow the typical hardcore songwriting formula they had adhered to in their previous releases. The band broke up suddenly in June 2004, a day after announcing the cancellation of a European tour. Also during their time as a band they were on a Black Flag tribute called Black on Black with a cover of the song Depression & also made a limited 3 Song Preview Tape. Members were in or went on to be in Some Girls, Panic, XO Skeletons, Ye Olde Maids, Head Automatica, Bars, Cold Cave, The Hope Conspiracy, Barfight, Ten Yard Fight, My Chemical Romance, Dead Country, Death By Stereo, The Suicide File, Chrome Jesus, Intention, Taylor Bow, Count Me Out, Cloak/Dagger & A Static Lullaby.
